Catch a Glimpse of Paradise. Ghiberti crafted his 20-foot tall, 3-ton, bronze doors — coined by Michelangelo as the Gates of Paradise — more than 500 years ago. For a limited time, three newly restored panels and four decorative pieces from the ancient masterpiece are on display at the High. Art lovers can observe up-close the depictions of such Old Testament stories as Adam and Eve. Unless you plan to seek out this icon of Renaissance art in Florence, Italy, you’ll have to grab the opportunity before July 15, when the doors will be reassembled at the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, never again to be moved. Take a Dip With the Gods. The myths of ancient Greece may be thousands of years old, but they can still be relevant today, especially when adapted into a contemporary play set in a 6,000-gallon pool. Yes, Ovid’s epic poem, which describes the history of the world from the viewpoint of Greek and Roman deities, is actually brought to life in a pool of water on the stage. Back by popular demand (every performance sold out back in April), “Metamorphoses” is sure to make a splash. Catch it through July 15 at the Gainesville Theatre Alliance. For tickets, visit
